我是英语专业大三的学生，可以很负责任的告诉你，这句翻译完全符合您的意思。我们精读课上老师提到过这句话，可是原句我实在想不起来了，我问了我们宿舍的人，所以可以肯定的是，这位名人的“人生的低谷”用的肯定是downtime这个词，不思进取我忘记原句用的什么了，我用的是颓废一词，就是不求上进，或许跟那位名家所说有细微差别，但百分之九十是一致的。
